If you're out and about looking for the perfect silver necklace for your wife, daughter, friend or even yourself, it pays to know as much as possible about what you are about to buy. Granted, silver is not as expensive a purchase as say, gold, still it is big enough that you should keep a few things in mind as you're looking through the selection at the local jewelers.

Another thing to think about is what the purpose of the silver necklace actually is. Those among you that have been paying attention might say, "to be worn!" Of course, but consider when it will be worn most often. Is this a piece you're getting for a specific occasion, such as a wedding, dinner or something formal? Or is it going to be worn on a daily basis, everything from work to after hours clubs and on dates?

Focus on the presentation, that is keep in mind the type of necklace and setting you want. It does little to have everything else figured out and then pick the wrong necklace. With the amount of choice you have for settings, you would do well to give this serious thought, as the right choice will enable the wearer to get as much out of a silver necklace as possible, no matter what they do.
